Personally, I think whatever crying he's doing isn't going to be appropriate or enough until he's doing it from behind bars. He has no right to feel sorry for himself until he's felt sorry for how badly he's fucked up this nation.

It's also kind of funny that his last grasp at controlling how history will see him is playing the victim. He's like a passive-agressive Caligula.
