He can probably smell it. I can. Through my nursing career I've met other nurses that could, and once had the pleasure of working one on a chronic unit. I remember several times coming in to work, and the two of us saying someone was going to die, and going room to room to figure out who it was.

It's a sweet sorta smell, sorta but not quite the cancer smell. The cat probably likes it and understands what it means?
