I have to say, I really haven't found recent horror flicks to be all that interesting. It seems to have started with Blair Witch Project. You're basically just watching people suffer. There is no reason for it. In this case the people are too stupid to follow a river. And the whole thing just makes you uncomfortable. You don't want to turn it off because its scary. You want to turn it off because why would you want to watch someone go through something like that? Its sadistic. That movie with the people left in the ocean in their life preservers is similar. Bad stuff happens to people. Why would you choose to simulate such an experience for entertainment? I'll be happy when this fad declines.

Agreed, but some people are that retarded. In the comments to the linked review, one guy mentions that his friends brother, when asked why he's so intent to see the movie replies "Dude, it's a hot chick getting tortured!"

I mean, really, I classify that as a mental defect. I guess porn is porn to some people.
