There is always a damn problem. The problem here is that removing hydrogen from water by causing the oxygen to rust aluminum is that you are left with all this aluminum rust and aluminum is also not an infinitely available resource. The aluminum could be produced at competitive prices if the recycling process were carried out with electricity generated by a nuclear power plant.
This is a really interesting idea, but I'm not convinced that its easier or cheaper to truck aluminum and aluminum oxide around the country rather than having a power grid. RE: Aluminum-based pellets make hydrogen when wet, offering alternative fuel source. |
