Thanks. The crystals are salt, formed by the evaporation of seawater in tidal pools.

Originally those shots were intended as having something of a forensic nature, but it doesn't directly come out in the selection of photos I posted.

I did include some close-ups of the live crabs on the rocks. But these lucky guys were not alone in the neighborhood. All around them were littered the pink, brittle corpses of their unlucky brethren who washed in with the tide ... and fell asleep, apparently. As the tide pulled out and the ponds emptied, they were left beyond reach of the water. Or something. I'm not a marine biologist.

The salt seemed sort of symbolic of their cause of death.
