Oh, no, its great, they have lots of fresh snowfall and the weather is just above freezing so its not too cold... Even got to shoot through some untouched powder on the first day. Second day the snow was a bit sticky/thick so it ran slow and took more strength to turn in, but certainly no ice. Its risky though. I think the season ends here at very different times year to year.
The worst snow in Banff must still be better than the best snow I grew up with. Spent most of my youth skiing on frozen snowcat tracks, ice gravel and sheets of glare ice. I don't recall what time of year we were up there, but it must have been midwinter. I recall that it snowed nightly, but never during the day, and i cut some fresh powder more than once in the week we spent. And this one restaurant we went to was buried in enough snow that the walkway was cut through 7 or 8 feet of the stuff, like a hedge maze... we ate antelope. That trip was awesome. Dude, if you bring me back a trail map, I'll buy you a beer ;) RE: Pictures from Banff so far... |
