Part of me doesn't want to take this seriously, but in fact this would likely cause significant economic disruption...

It does sound a little off the wall... But a relatively small explosive device in a major DC's MDF, or by a series of condiuit running to an MDF, would effectively take the facility offline for a significant amount of time.
