New printing for 'The Mammoth Book of Secret Codes and Cryptograms'
by Elonka at 6:02 pm EST, Feb 28, 2007

Good news... I ordered another set of copies of my book, The Mammoth Book of Secret Codes and Cryptograms from my publisher, and the new batch all say, "Reprinted in 2007."

Or in other words, they ran out of copies of my book, and had to print more (this is a good thing).

It also means that anyone who went to the trouble of getting a first edition, the collectable value of your copies just went up, heh.

FYI,

Elonka :)

Interested to know how this works: you receive notification that this took place or was it a surprise when you opened the book? Are you getting royalties or was this an up front kind of deal?

Seems like as the author, you'd at least be kept in the loop about reprints.

Ha! You'd think, but no. I've actually been quite surprised with how little author/publisher communication there's been. I've been completely on my own for nearly all publicity -- booksignings, press interviews, etc. The publisher printed a blurb about my book in their quarterly catalog, and that's about it.

I don't have a copy yet! How is it filed under a Brick and Morter bookstore?

Check the Games & Puzzles sections. When I travel, I check local stores to autograph copies, and they could have anywhere from 0-3 copies, so it's usually a good idea to call first. If they don't have one in stock, you can probably order one from their warehouse, and they may still have "first printing" copies in stock.
