Starting February 18, Fox News will offer what some are calling "The Daily Show for conservatives". The man behind the show is "24" creator Joel Surnow; he rejects the Daily Show comparison, instead calling it "more in the spirit of the old and rebellious "Saturday Night Live."

It occurs to me that there is a difference between the following:
"I'm of XYZ political view. I'm doing a show. The purpose of my show is to entertain. My political views come through in my show sometimes because thats who I am."
and
"I'm of XYZ political view. I'm doing an overtly partisan show. I'm doing it because I hate that other guy. The show is also funny."

Would you watch a show that ran an ad that said:

WARNING, this show may offend the following people:

the right
the far right
anyone standing to the right
fat hogs
bankers
Christians
Anyone named Christian
Republicans
Anyone who voted for a Republican
Anyone who knows a Republican
fat hogs
gun owners
ray gun owners
Ted Nugent

Finally, a comedy program for the rest of us! XYZ, an equal opportunity offender!

I don't know what bothers me more, the fact that conservatives think its becoming when they act like assholes or the fact that so many people seem to agree that it is. If this country's political dialog really can't rise above the emotional age of 13 we're doomed.
