This is not an easy thing to describe. It's a film. It's not long. You should watch it. |

Thanks for the recommendation. Very enjoyable. And very true about the Death/Taxes/Spam trio, they are all unavoidable :) Bonus trivia: The song playing in the background is Aphex Twin's "Ruglen Holon" from the album Drukqs released in 2001. Man, has it been over five years since the last Aphex album? Yep. Rumor has it there's a new one coming out this year. We'll see. |

[ I know it was released as "AFX", but 2006's Chosen Lords is pretty much an Aphex Twin record, at least as far as I'm concerned. Most of the tracks are not as good as, say, Windowlicker, but better than a lot of what we got on Drukqs. Also, and you may know of this already, I really enjoyed the Acoustica record (Alarm Will Sound), which retakes Aphex Twin songs by way of an orchestra... it's not the first time Aphex Twin's been done "live form" -- i have a great version of "Film" performed by a jazz trio (a piano, bass and drum kit) called The Bad Plus (another band that needs to be checked out, along with Brad Mehldau, who you might know, interestingly, from his cover of Radiohead's "Exit Music (for a film)" among others). Anyway, my $0.02 -k] |

Yes, some very deep cuts in the Analord series for sure. I think I might have made a couple of different choices on Chosen Lords but it's amazing how similar my original picks were to what came out. Intrigued by the cover of Flim, will have to check it out. |
