The computers have taken over...
by Abaddon at 3:54 pm EST, Jan 17, 2007

so the state of California just sent me a nasty-gram, seems they're very upset that I am more than a year past due on my California franchise tax for my corporation...at first I'm thinking...fuck, how could I have forgotten to pay my franchise tax...then I realize...oh, thats right, because I don't have a corporation in california, never have...

I mean, i know California is known for its high taxes, but inventing companies that dont exist so you can tax them, thats new to me...

guess I get to spend more time on the phone to argue with what someones computer says...

if anyone out there is worried that some day computers will take over and control our lives, stop worrying, its already happened...

the other day I was trying to access my e-trade account...it was locked...why you ask? because a computer detected a discrepency between the age I gave them (26), and the age that was on one of my credit reports (2006)...No, I'm not the masia (sp?) but etrade and equifax seem to think so...

thats not the funny part, the funny part was when I spoke with a human to get this cleared up...My possition was that I'm a mortal man, and this is obviously a mistake on their part...their possition was that the computer said so, and computers don't lie...

after half an hour I got tired of explaining that I am not Pontius Pilate, or the highlander, or a mysterious romanian lord that only comes out at night (hey now, im not romanian), so I gave up, and they won, I had to send in proof that I was less than 2000 years old...

the computers are already in control...dispare...

... yeah.. my bad. CA has this vehicle registration webpage that was totally SQL injectable. Turns out the same machine hosted there Tax database as well...

The cool part will be when a cop tries to scan your license and a 50ft. wide popup box appears in the sky above your car saying "XSS!"
