On Thursday, just after noon, the Tufts historian Felipe Fernandez-Armesto was arrested by Atlanta police as he crossed the middle of the street between the Hilton and Hyatt hotels.

Jaywalk == boot to the head.

Birmingham has a Jaywalking ordinance, first offense, $107, second offense, $500.... Though with the murder rate being what it is, I don't think they've written a single ticket that wasn't related to drugs, sex, violence, or parking.
