The irony of this situation strikes me as a bit funny in a strange, sick way -- the mother, an illegal immigrant, wouldn't be entitled to any of our social programs since she is not a citizen, nor would she entitled to any medical assistance for injuries recieved during childbirth, but the child, being a citizen by virtue of being born here, would be entitled(?) to care provided by the state.
