The fact that the President gives these people personal audience is troubling. They are not serious people. Does the president take them seriously? Does he take their counsel?

I see this as something much more simple. A stopgap measure. The assclown talk radio people have always been steadfast supporters. The evangelical christian right has even started to distance themselves from Bush.. This _is_ Bush's base.
