I just happen to be investigating various software tools that support rating, ranking, and/or reputation, and when I arrived here I found my blog mentioned at the top ;-) I'm in-progress on a long article on "Collective Choice: Reputation Systems", the longest yet of my Collective Choice articles. Biggest problem finishing it is that reputation is very tangled with other problems: all problems with identity systems are also in reputation, most trust problems are in reputation, as well as many of the issues in rating and ranking that I've already identified in previous articles.
Let's hear it for good timing. :) I have not yet had a chance to read over the content on your blog at length, as it was just pointed out to me by Tom this morning. It is not an overstatement to say we have been researching and working on these issues you mentioned since 2001. I will fully admit, we have been horrible at executing on our vision and designs. MemeStreams is a two man project, and both people involved have been incapable of working on it full-time. Your expertise in getting projects of this type funded is highly of interest. We gave a talk at a hacker convention last year about some of the stuff we are working on. Almost all ideas discussed has evolved significantly since then, but the talk gives background on much of what we want to be going on here, that isn't actually being implemented at this time.. MemeStreams as it is right now, is a proof of concept. Full Video Download - Google Video Welcome to the discussion! RE: Life With Alacrity |
