Check out the current issue of Foreign Affairs, specifically Will Kashmir Stop India's Rise? India's growing economic and diplomatic prominence is unlikely to be derailed by its territorial dispute with Pakistan over Kashmir. But given the risk that the Kashmir issue could spark a nuclear war, it is in India's best interest that it be resolved. Washington should use its influence with Islamabad to broker an agreement and thereby cement its growing strategic partnership with New Delhi.

The attack has the trademarks of Kashmiri Islamic terrorist groups like the Lashkar-e-Toiba which has set off bombs in quick succession in Indian cities before. India's domestic intelligence agency, the Intelligence Bureau, claims that this attack, as also the grenade attacks in Jammu and Kashmir earlier today were aimed at diverting attention from the elections being held in Pakistani Kashmir.
It does sound like Pakistani/Kashmiri separatists are adopting the style of 'Al Q.' |
