District B-13 (Banlieue 13) Movie Review | The Boston Globe by possibly noteworthy at 3:16 pm EDT, Jun 3, 2006 |
It's not my preferred way to go, but were I to die chasing a shirtless thug in a French action movie, I'd want to do it with all my might, like the anonymous goons in ``District B13." When a body plummets down a stairwell or is hurled against a slot machine, it does so with conviction. Like its stunt work, the movie is both ridiculously hyperactive and a muscular feat of absolute confidence. I don't expect to have a more adrenalizing time at the movies this summer.

Have you seen tthis. Some friends of mine went to an indy movie theater tonight and we were placing bets about which movie they saw. We decided that this was the movie to see because it involves a neutron bomb. :) |

Yes, I saw it yesterday. It's quite enjoyable as pure entertainment. The social commentary is strictly B-movie, but the action and the visuals are excellent. As I said, the parkour scenes are too cool. Some of the chases resemble The Matrix, with guys jumping from one rooftop to the next. But these guys are doing stunts, not CGI. |
