How would you feel if I told you that Verisign has the capability to listen to all of your telephone calls. How would you feel if I told you their lawyers are the ones who decide whether or not to a law enforcement request is up to snuff?

I'd feel uncomfortable. I'd respond by reminding everyone of their past abuses of power and allege that they are not a party that should be trusted with more power. I'd state it as my professional opinion. I'd harken to current abuses of executive power, as well as Verisign's arrogance driven by their connections to the commerce department. I'd say that we have a wolf in wolf's clothing, and that it should be obvious. I'd say that the real value created by this new Verisign product/service is not for the service providers they are marketing it to. However, I'm pretty sure it would all fall on deaf ears when it wasn't falling in ears that were already aware of this.
