Not sure if this has been done before, or if it is interesting for your book but I have put together a javascript client side encrypted page here: http://www.strangetides.objectis.net/Members/strangetides/encrypted

The idea is that the encryption code and the target is all within the page and entering the correct key will reveal the message. Obviously this page uses a trivial encryption, but I think if the radomiser was really good (BBS for example) then this would work very well. I'll leave it to better JS coders than I to prettify the interface.
