Clark was identified by the woman, who was carjacked at gunpoint in July 1981 from outside an Atlanta Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant and raped repeatedly. Clark was convicted and sentenced to life in prison plus 20 years for rape, kidnapping and armed robbery. But recent DNA tests show that Clark — who had no prior adult felony convictions — did not commit the crime.
I have one very simple reason I think capital punishment should go away. If you get the wrong guy and send them to jail, that's bad, but you can try to make up for it. If you send them to the chair, you can't. |
