To be fair, this sort of thing is not unique to Somalia. Happens quite often in South East Asia...

They shot rocket propelled grenades and automatic fire at the ship. They were not trying to rob the ship, this was an obvious, clear, no other reason, attempt at a terrorist attack.

I'm gonna step out on a limb here and say it wasn't Christian or Jewish pirates.
