MLK wanted people to judge one another based upon the content of their character, and not the color of their skin. MLK was also deeply concerned with the well-being of African Americans. It is not the color of their skin, but the apparent lack of concern and compassion for African Americans that earn these people the title of "uncle Tom." That one would benefit from the actions of valiant pioneers past and yet not continue the good fight is what earns these people their infamy.

Pretending race does not exist to the detriment of others who's lives are defined by it is not what MLK preached.
