What appalls me about this isn't people telling friends/family about this. I sort of expect that. What I dislike about it is that they are saying one thing to those people and saying something completely different to everyone else. Advance notice is one thing, and given the group this appears to have gone to, fine. But saying two entirely different things is not in the same ballpark.
