ReBirth RB-338 is the revolutionary computer software simulation of classic Roland devices - the TB-303 Bass Line Synthesizer and the TR-808 and TR-909 Rhythm Composers. The lasting influence of these electronic instruments encompasses genres of music ranging from contemporary Pop to Hip-hop, R&B, and electronic music.
In 1997, over a decade after production had ceased on the original devices, the introduction of ReBirth launched a new generation of music software. Backed by critical acclaim and a dedicated fan following, this innovation set an important precedent for the music software industry.

On September 1, 2005, Propellerhead Software announced that the era of ReBirth had come to an end and created the ReBirth Museum to commemorate its history. Visitors are welcome to tour the website, learn about its developers and community, and take home a special memento: ReBirth RB-338 itself!

Nice. Before Reason, there was ReBirth. Pretty cool gesture, releasing the software after it was EOL'ed. There are torrents available for both Mac and PC.

ReBirth wasted many hours of my time when it came out. I used it (illegally) for many months before more powerful software became available in the late 90's. It's still a fun piece of software to learn how the Roland x0x's were physically programmed.

I'm seeding this one for a while to let some of the "Warez Karma" dissipate. Check it out, it's fun stuff.

I'm really glad they did this, and I've had a lot of fun over the years playing with it. But it doesn't run on OS X, and there's no way I'm going back to Mac Classic to run something that was kinda buggy to begin with. I wish they'd open the source, because I think that would be a much more interesting contribution to the entire soft synth scene. But I'm sure they're already feeling pressure from all the soft synths on the market as it is.
