I think that term limits are a bad idea. Take that.

Why? Cato on Term Limits...

The nation's Founders strongly believed in rotation in office. They left term limits out of the Constitution because they did not foresee that politics would become a career for so many people. Short term limits would remedy that mistake. Nothing is more important today than reversing the pernicious rise of a professional political class.

Term limits are vital to our country.
If we get rid of them, then we'll end up having people like Kerry or Bush in office forever.

Or BJ Clinton - even worse.

Actually, I can think of few things with as great a damaging potential as term limits. As things stand, there are a number of people who are career politicians, and this is something that did not exist in early America. Also not existing in early America is the massive bureaocracy that the government has turned into. I would much rather not have term limits than have actual power resting in the hands of aides and staffers who are handed down from one elected person to the next.

I prefer to enjoy the fiction that government is run by elected people rather than looking at one like the world in Terry Gilliam's Brazil!

And the last time I checked, Jim Sensenbrenner wasn't a Democrat (and I don't think they'd take him)
