I want features! There's a new HP iPaq coming out in December (if it's not delayed yet again) that has:
(1) Fixed the issue of low battery life (ipaq cell phone 6300 has horrible battery life and people hate it)
(2) built in GPS
(3) GPRS
(4) Edge
(5) Wifi
(6) querty keyboard

Is there a BlackBerry or PalmOS device that has all of that built in for $500? If so, please tell me so I can go buy it now.

I believe there is a Samsung coming out before then that will get there. Is the built-in GPS actually usable? (Since ~2001, all cell phones have to have GPS capabilities built-in, but very few expose it at the device level outside of calls to 911). Otherwise, the Treo 650 is a driver hack away (for Wifi) from offering that list plus a camera.

Wifi in phones will be delayed just as long as the carriers can get away with it. They mangle Bluetooth (I noticed you didn't mention Bluetooth DUN, which would certainly be on my list) for similar reasons: they neither want to be a roaming Wifi access point, nor have competition from skype mobile phones.

Qwerty keyboards are overrated or take up too much space; I'm very happy with my 7100t's adaptive typing system.
