Is smoking really the "number one cause of heart disease." I would think obesity was the number one cause of heart disease. This isn't to say that smoking isn't as dangerous as obesity. Its far more dangerous. This is simply to say that it seems like there are a aweful lot more obese people then smokers.

In any event, I googled the text "number one cause of heart disease." Nearly every page offers a different cause. Some say smoking. Some say eating meat. Some say high cholesterol. Some say stress. Some say diabetes, which is technically true but a bit redundant. One site cites milk consumption.

In any event, if you want some hard data its available from the right sources.
