Wal-mart is here! -Well, almost- People
by Jamie at 4:43 pm EDT, May 26, 2005

] ith Wal-mart planning to set up shop in India, you can
] soon look forward to a complete shopping experience -
] something that you only heard of from your NRI cousins
] and friends.

Walmart in Germany is a failure but it's because Germany has a lot of stupid rules, like you can't change prices and can't have sales. Germany also has more than 10% unemployment and is retarded (except for their beer).

So - I'm wondering if Walmart in India will have success or not. I'm guessing it'll actually be a massive success provided India doesn't have any crazy laws like Germany.

1 - There is a lack of retail outlets in India (or at least, in comparison to the US)
2 - India people seem to like American things. Or I get that impression from Indian friends of mine.
3 - MASSIVE population.

4- Cheaper prices! With the slump on Chinese textiles, the majority of Walmart clothing is being made in India or South East Asia. No trans-pacific frieght costs built into the price.
