Bush's approval rating graph 2001-2004 by Acidus at 8:01 pm EDT, May 24, 2005 |
Data points from 15 different polling agencies (Pew, Gallup, etc), with a best fit curve line. I wish it included 2005 info, but still very informative. |

Actually, I'm guessing he may have not even won re-election. |

If anything, I think this shows how well the US public has been duped. I don't think any president keeps his approval rating too high above 50% for a sustained period of time. I would bet that the average for an entire term is probably pretty close to 50%, with a moderate standard deviation. But that's not the point. The point is that this particular president had nearly 90% approval following 9/11, and unilateral worldwide support. And he pissed that away by invading Iraq. Even with that completely ridiculous decision, he was at 70% approval upon commencing the war. 70%! That means that a majority of people thought that WMD's were real and that Iraq had something to do with 9/11 even though there's been not one molecule of evidence to support either idea. In the meantime, we've not captured Bin Laden, not fully stabilized Afghanistan (and certainly not prevented it from falling into a completely drug driven economy/state), and we now have two rogue nations with nuclear capabilities (North Korea and Iran). Thanks. I feel safer already. Can you sue the President for breach of fiduciary responsibility? |
