To be honest, the press has reported that he tried to leave the organization and he wasn't a particularly ethusiastic member. In any event, I really don't care if he was in the Hitler Youth. That was decades ago. I'm concerned about the man he is today. And there appears to be some cause for concern in terms of his viewpoint being more conservative then that of many Catholics. However, its really too early to tell what kind of Pope he'll be.
