I've got no trouble with a Pope on a feeding tube. Now, a Pope without brain activity, that'd be another story!

I'm curious now though, what kind of precedent exists... Have there been previous Popes who were bedridden with a serious illness for a long period of time? Were they allowed to keep, um, Pope-ing? I really have no idea what the rules are.
