Read the whole article for proper context... ] -Pk I haven't read the article, but in principal, this isn't a bad idea. We have the lowest cost of oil products in the entire world. Even better than China or original oil producing countries! Raising the price would muck with the economy, BUT it would also succeed in putting pressure where pressure is due and that is in the conservation and renewable fuels research areas. Consider that we're just now paying $2+/gal for gas when the Euros have been paying closer to $5+/gal for decades and the Japanese close to that. Societies adapt. |
