For me since "zip-code" doesn't correlate w/ either timezone or stateboundries... and the most annoying "unencorporated territory" it has lots of uses. Politically it gives me hints as to how to segment my email blasts to "constituants".

+ the way that the post office presents this as a coding thing is a cluster fuck. At least now I can sorta figure out where it's midnight.
