] has died. He was awarded the 1967 Nobel prize in physics
] for his theory on the nuclear reactions that take place
] inside stars and was one of the key figures in the
] Manhattan atomic bomb project during the Second World
] War. After the war he spoke out in favour of arms control
] and nuclear disarmament.
