The Life of a Hockey Dad

After watching all three of my children play soccer for 12 years, I can say that one of the best things about hockey is that it's not soccer.

as a good friend of mine once said, "Soccer is a sport where rich kids run around in silk shorts."

You are so clearly American. No self respecting Englishman would dream of saying that. Here soccer or football as we call it is the sport of the people. Nothing can bring this country to a halt like the World Cup or a European Championship.
ps Football has a trully global World Cup inlike your American football, baseball or basketball.

No disrespect to the world game of football (GO NEWCASTLE!), but this is more a comment about the culture that surrounds youth soccer in the US than anything else. Considering that hockey is hurling on ice, and that hurling is rooted in soccer, there's not much difference. And yes, as an Englishman, you can say that, because you have polo to rag on.
