Novel calendar system creates regular dates
by k at 11:29 am EST, Jan 5, 2005

Excerpt: "And what of the people born on dates that no longer exists in the new calendar, such as 31 January, or during Newton Week? Henry suggests they celebrate on either 30 January or "consider themselves to be born on the fourth of July" (which falls on a Wednesday)."

An it doesn't stop there: "And he is not stopping with dates - Henry says the entire world should operate on Greenwich Mean Time. People in the eastern US, for example, would have to get used to eating their midday meals when the clocks read 1700. "People are adaptable if benefits are there," says Henry."

That'd be a confusing set of changes for a while. -Pk

yes, but imo, totally necessary. why are we dealing with this stupid bullshit in the 21st century? while this approach seems a bit crackpot to me, there's certainly a way to solve this problem. leap year? slippy seconds? c'mon people...

at least can we just move permanently to daylight savings time? in a country so obsessed with driving productivity to the moon, you'd think there would be a lobby for more daylight hours to avoid the midwinter doldrums. the fact that Phoenix is in its own time zone is really ridiculous.

There is a redundant post from peekay not displayed in this view.
