Data science is not simply a series of programs and tutorials that automatically make inferences from your data. Often times, what isn't in your data has significant implications for inference. Your software package isn't going to tell you what they are.

Many "data scientists" are more "data manipulators," generating politically acceptable outputs that support a given agenda. Someone should do an analysis of the time and money being spent on trying to define what Big Data really means.
