And I think that's where they ] really lost my vote. Humorously, I don't agree with the demonization of the Republican party. I think they have a good number of reasonable, thoughtful individuals. I think John McCain is a good guy. I don't agree with a lot of his positions, but he's a good guy. I think Arnie is actually a Libertarian, but he's listed as a Republican. I didn't dislike Arlen Specter, I thought Fred Thompson was an interesting guy. I don't believe in George Bush as the anti-christ, that would mean I believed in the second coming. I believe he is a fool. He is a walking example of the idea that the road to hell is paved with good intentions, and in this case he is paving it with bodies as well because in his self-rightousness, he will never accept that he could have been wrong. I believe Karl Rove is the embodiment of an utterly soulless "win at any cost" Machiavellian philosophy. I do see the war in Iraq as a collossal mistake. We have turned a country that was in bad shape into one that will be even worse. Iraq is going to democratically elect a Taliban like government or Muslim theocracy and tell us to get the fuck out of their country, which we won't do, because that government won't fulfill our idea of a democratic one and then we'll have a rerun of Chinese Gordon on a much larger scale. I don't think Bush systematically lied to the American people to get their support for his Mesopotamian adventure, I know he did. Whether he is simply that huge a sociopath or if he deluded himself into believing it as well doesn't matter to me, but I do hope he gets to meet God, because God isn't going to be happy with what Bush has been doing in His name. (and that may be the first time I have ever capitalized the word his when it wasn't the first word in a sentence) I think he has betrayed our troops by sending them in harms way with no plan to get them out of harms way other than "they'll love us." I believe his actions with the prisoners at Gitmo have been a betrayal of his oath of office and a betrayal of the Christian values he purports to uphold. There are millions of people who feel exactly the same way I do. Since the election he said he wants everyone to join together and then finished it by saying "I'll reach out to everyone who shares our goals." What that says to me and those millions of other people is "Fuck you." I don't believe in an anti-christ but if I did, George Bush would be at the top of my list of likely candidates for the job.
