My husband knew him. He said he was a very nice guy that would give anyone the shirt off his back and did a lot of charity work up in Boston long before he got injured. My husband was very upset he died, especially with a bedsore. I figure he must have been nice because my husband normally doesn't say many nice things about folks, but he has ALWAYS said Christopher Reeves was a very nice man and that he and his wife were head over heels into each other and said she hadn't faltered or changed a bit.
