Actress Theron hurt on Germany film set by k at 11:43 am EDT, Sep 1, 2004 |
] Oscar-winning actress Charlize Theron was injured while ] shooting her new Paramount film, "Aeon Flux," in Germany, ] but her representatives aren't saying how badly she was ] hurt. ] ] Theron suffered the unspecified injury while doing her ] own stunts in a wire-hanging action sequence, the movie's ] publicist, Jeanmarie Carrasco, told The Associated Press ] Tuesday. ] ] "No cuts, no broken bones," Carrasco said. "I think it ] was something less tangible than that. ... Something ] vague and nagging." [ That sucks that she was hurt, but dude, they're making a live action Aeon Flux movie?!?! Holy crap! -k] |

What was cool about Aeon Flux certainly wasn't the plot or the charaters. It was the strangeness of the world and the way it was drawn. It was the style of it. It was cyberpunk, but it was also unsettling. It made you feel uncomforable because everything was slightly wrong. Make a live action version and you're going to loose that edge. You are left with a few girls jumping around in tight purple spandex. I'm sure that'll sell, but it won't be the same thing at all. |

[ Yeah, i have real doubts that they're gonna make a movie that those of us who watched the cartoon will recognize. For one thing, the cartoon was, aside from being unsettling, damn near incomprehensible, so they're gonna have to have a plot which can be started and finished in a 2 hour window, or no one's gonna see it. That inherently changes it since a major part (good or bad is a matter for the viewer) of the cartoon is the indistinct plot and incoherent world keeping you off balance. They're also gonna have to de-sexualize it a lot, i'm sure... the show really oozed that kinda creepy sexuality that you weren't quite sure if you're supposed to enjoy. Don't get me wrong, i'll probly see it, if for no other reason than to see, as you say, Charlize Theron jumping around in purple spandex (actually, it should be vinyl, really), but I'm not expecting Aeon Flux. -k] |
