I've actually accepted that a long time ago. However, I do find Vile's argument entertaining and somewhat correct. The Mayor's first responsibility is to protect the interest of New Yorkers, and I think he is right on the money (ha ha) about that. Now, you do point that NYC does have more attractions per square foot than most places--however, I think Vile was pointing out that Central Park one of the last green, grassy places in the city--restored and reseeded at a cost of $18 million. Ironically, according to the Daily News, this project was paid for by wealthy New Yorkers and private donors. So your argument about the almighty dollar goes both ways. RE: Yahoo!
