Sugar...in soft drinks? Sugar...causes diabetes? Soda...Causes Diabetes? Christ, and I just found out that smoking cigarettes causes cancer! What next? Could fat possibly cause heart attacks? Could eating too much cause you to be obese? Could humans actually die one day? Will people ever develop brains!?!

Pretty loose and over-generalized science IMHO... You could apply similar theories and findings to Krispy Kreme donuts, Frappuccinos or egad, Hooters Chicken Wings if you really tried. Researchers will turn us into a society of total food-o-phobics within 20 yrs. Phuckit. You only live once.

It's that attitude that's going to bankrupt the country trying to pay for everyone to be on drugs and life support for 20+ years while they slowly rot.

The article doesn't say pop *causes* diabetes. It says that drinking one a day raises the liklihood of getting it. Drinking one of anything a day other than water is probably not a good idea.

Yeah, I know some people hate diet sodas, but they should be safe from the problems the study covers. The study basically concludes that high sugar intake is a bad thing, which isn't exactly news. So drink diet.

Of course, Splenda (tm) and Aspartame will give you brain tumors, bad BO, and toe webbing; but there's no free lunch, so suck it up.

[ I think i'll stick to water. Or juice. Diet soda tastes like crap. I really would rather not drink soda if it's gonna taste like someone kept their gym shorts in the bottle. Just gotta find the willpower to not have sweet, delicious Barqs with my burrito. -k]
