I've been wondering about this. At first I thought it was stupid because he took this rumbling by an obviously partisan internet group that few people cared about and hauled it onto the front page.

Then I was thinking that as these swift boat veterans were discredited that they might discredit others on the right by association.

Now I think that Bush won. The linked article explains why:

President Bush tells reporters Monday that Sen. John Kerry served admirably in Vietnam.

Not only does this put the question to rest, but Bush ends up looking like the better man for being able to respect his opponent.
