] In a far cry from the high-minded ideals of humanity and ] tolerance embodied by the Olympics, the organizers of the ] Athens games have warned spectators that they could be ] barred for taking a surreptitious sip of Pepsi or an ] illicit bite from a Burger King Whopper. And the Olymipics will crash and burn in 3....2....1 games from now. Apparently, the IOC doesn't see the entire lack of attendees to the games as a show stopper for the "ambush marketers". |

It was so clear when this thing was here that it was all about advertising. People hate being sold stuff, and the more the ICOG turns itself out the more apathetic everyone is going to get about their events. |

People aren't allowed to bring outside beverages to ANY event. Start your own events and let people bring drinks into them. Until you do that, please don't waste space on this site. |

SBN: Olympics marketers tip their hand by Decius at 1:08 pm EDT, Aug 22, 2004 |
] Strict regulations published by Athens 2004 last week ] dictate that spectators may be refused admission to ] events if they are carrying food or drinks made by ] companies that did not see fit to sponsor the games. ] ] Sweltering sports fans who seek refuge from the soaring ] temperatures with a soft drink other than one made by ] Coca-Cola will be told to leave the banned refreshment at ] the gates or be shut out. Usually they just ban all outside food and drink as a "security measure." In this case they've tipped their hand. |
