The CS degree at Tech is only worth as much as you put into it... if you know people that care about their work then it's entirely possible to finish a CS degree with almost no understanding of the field: slack your way through CS1 & CS2, get curved through 2130, leech off your friends in a group for 2335/2340, and abuse friendships to get 2200 projects done. Now we just do our specializations in HCI, EduTech, and Software Engineering (which may sound bad, but is really just 2335 with more paperwork) and we've graduated with no real experience writing code that works. but noooooo... i'm not bitter (especially not after being a TA for 4 semesters and seeing administration bow to the god of PR (how dare we accuse people of cheating or make courses difficult!)) |
