If you take this guy's anger up a notch or ten to national and international level. Take his anger and multiply it by a hundred million people over fifty years, what do you think he might have planned then? Not just a bulldozer into some builidng. What about highjacking some jets and flying them into, say, the Pentagon or the WTC? What you call cool, at another degree you call terrorist. Listen to the enemy - he's there, in your small town America. |

Good arithmetic, bad logic. The man was angry. Multiply his anger. (Oh right, that's not a number and you're a man so you can't cope with abstractions like that). That anger is that same anger that fed the 9/11 attacks. Small as his violence was, so too was 9/11. Horrifying as it was, 9/11 was more publicity stunt than carnage. Remember - more people died each MONTH in Iraq as a result of sanctions than died in 9/11. Cool or crazy - you choose. God bless America. It needs all the help it can get. |

If we multiply his anger... We get GODZILLA! Your analogy is both idiotic and poorly argued. There is a significant difference between terrorist networks and postal wacko's. Not being able to spot the difference might have something to do with your preference of "abstraction" over "concept." It's true... there are many horrors in this world. Blaming all of them on this asshole doesn't quite hold water. If your point was that "There's violence in society, and that is not cool." It would be easier to simply say such rather than climbing a moralistic and sexist ladder to stupidity. Also.. If that was your point, you should consider learning "sarcasm" in your repertoire of abstract notions. The tank was pretty cool, and the victims are mostly insurance companies. "What if" arguments on whether he could have been satan incarnate are in no way logical. |

My point was simple - anger drives people to insane, appalling extremes - this man and his "tank", 9/11, Palestinian suicide bombers. But you call it "cool". How quaint. The suicide tank, you say, was "pretty cool", despite the loss of life (yes, the life of the man who made it - or doesn't he "count"?) What age are you to think that his insane, suicidal stunt was anything more than a miserable example of anger let loose? Dead men are "cool"? What is your measure of human life - toy soldiers? |

Actually, religion and politics plays somewhat of a larger role than meerly Just anger in the case Palestinian suicide bombers and Al Quadia networks. This guy was not on a jihad of any kind, he was plainly fucking nuts. "his insane, suicidal stunt was anything more than a miserable example of anger let loose?" That's pretty much all it was. Pretending it was something it wasn't makes no sense at all. Spilt milk is not international terrorism. His tank was cool and unique. As far as the loss of life , I personally don't see this guy as a victim (he did it himself, afterall) - If you apply your own idiotic analogy (9/11) to this case, I think its sort of interesting that you would count the terrorists among the "losses." |

Oh, I see, he was "plainly fucking nuts". Well, that's easy. Thanks. The guy spends weeks planning and preparing an insane suicide attack on his neighbours, but what the hell - "nuts" will do. Keeps him contained, huh? Nothing to do with you. Religion can be used by anyone to rationalise anger. Also, yes, I DO include the terrorists among the "losses". Dehumanise your enemy and you're half-way to concentration camps. Oh hang on, you already are ... No matter how despicable their actions, they too were human and died for something they believed in. By connecting with that (not agreeing with it) there is hope that we can find our way out of the mess, see what brought it about, defuse the anger - or would you rather buy in some more spades and dig further into the violence? Keep it simple, that's your motto, huh? ... keep the bombers flying. On both sides. Anyone who thinks a suicide bulldozer is "cool and unique" is either spending too much time with their Tonka toys or is having a lot of trouble getting that all important hormone balance in check. But enough. We won't agree. Good luck. |

It wouldnt run, it would have realistic smoke. The tank would be as good as some of the puppets on the cheeb and bong tour. Now lookee here, oaknet! You seem to have a problem with men. A real hatred in fact. You should stop covering editorials on your blog. Maybe, make them less extreme, perhaps. You should probably start being a bit more subservient to men. It would make life better for you. You see, men will be less apt to beat the shit out of you, when they marry you. Then you will be a nice wife and you would be more understanding of the penis envy that you carry with you all the days of your life. You must be kind of ugly to feel the way you do. Probably a lesbian, it seems. Maybe you need to step back and rethink your prejudices. Then it wouldn't appear that you are so much of a tight-assed cunt. |

Of course, you may be a little upset to realise that I am a 50 year old, male, married (with 2 kids), technology orientated, tenured academic in England, but hey, shit, let's meet up, let's see what your manhood can do for me. Does this sound like a stable society to you, or one of the edge of a nervous breakdown? All countries have insane, criminal violence, but this was carefully planned pathological destructive and self-destructive madness. Just for comparison, in the UK some farmers were angry at the banks. They took muck spreaders up the high street and liberally sprayed the banks with manure. Not everyone who's angry is a psychopath... Throw away your guns, boys. |
