In many cases people get offended by things because of the associations they make in their heads about the thing being said instead of the associations made in the heads of the people speaking. I recall a high school play I was involved with in which one of the characters says "This sucks." We put the play on and were suddenly deluged by protests from the parents in the community who were offended by our reference to "Oral Sex." We had no idea what they were talking about until they clarified it. We never once considered the association. IE, the problem is in your head and not mine. So, ask yourself, is making fun of the ghetto the same as making fun of black people? Where does this association exist? (Of course, you probably get this. I image you are making fun of the protest mentality. Personally, I find that offensive!) RE: Abolish the Ghettopoly Mentality! |
