Sex Tips For Geeks
Topic: Relationships 1:00 pm EST, Dec 17, 2002

A marvelous set of essays that explains the art of the pickup, in language that's understandable to the high tech set. There's actually some awesome advice here, for *both* genders.

(2/2003 update): Changed URL to a mirror site, since tuxedo.org seems to be gone.

HugMe's Server Status

Even with all the "slashdot effect" that my site was getting from the mention in Schneier's newsletter, including thousands of visitors attacking all at once, my personal site ran without a problem. The server stayed up, and there was plenty of bandwidth. Thanks HugMe!

Wiki is awesome. Easy-to-add user content, real-time modification of webpages and hyperlinks.

Steganography Software
Topic: Cryptography 10:49 am EST, Dec 17, 2002

An excellent collection of links to steganography utilities, sorted by Operating System. Used to be http://steganography.tripod.com, but evidently they recently got their own domain: stegoarchive.com

BBC NEWS - World Edition
Topic: Current Events 10:59 pm EST, Dec 16, 2002

If some international issue is not being covered by CNN (or slashdot), or if I want to get an outside viewpoint on an issue involving the U.S., I'll check the BBC news site. Especially if it's a matter affecting one of the European countries, the BBC is more likely to cover it in depth than any of the American news sources.

Slashdot: News for nerds, stuff that matters
Topic: Technology 10:57 pm EST, Dec 16, 2002

Awesome up-to-the-minute news/rumors/commentary site with a high-tech high-IQ focus, and often covers things that the "traditional" media doesn't get around to (or just plain doesn't get). I have it set as my homepage.

ROTTEN TOMATOES: Movie Reviews & Previews
Topic: Movies 10:47 pm EST, Dec 16, 2002

This is my favorite site for quickly scanning reviews of any new movie. It collates reviews from dozens of sources, and gives one line synopses of each review, along with a graphical aid of a "thumbs up" tomato or "thumbs down" splat to quickly get a sense of a movie's "freshness" rating. Whenever deciding whether or not to go to a particular movie, I check this site for the reviews, and I also check the rating at www.imdb.com. Of course, some movies, such as any Star Trek or Lord of the Rings flick, I'm going to see *regardless* of any reviews. ;)

The Internet Movie Database (IMDb).
Topic: Movies 10:44 pm EST, Dec 16, 2002

In my opinion, this is the finest collection of movie trivia on the web. Search on anything from movie titles to actors to sound engineers. Check bios, view movie posters, read famous quotes from each movie, and easily read community reviews of any film. Great stuff.
